38 Week Bumpdate

Here we are – 38 weeks! I can’t believe the end is in sight. Everyone keeps saying, “it could be any day now,” and while that is crazy/exciting to think about, I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much. My entire family (mom + sisters) all went past their due dates so I’m anticipating I’ll follow in their footsteps as well. Just don’t want to get too excited that baby will make their appearance on or before their due date. And this way, it’ll be a nice surprise if baby does come early/on time.

I’m now going to the doctor every week and can definitely feel a difference with my body. My belly feels tighter, my feet are more swollen and the aches in my lower back seem to come no matter if I’m standing up or sitting down. But all that aside, I’m feeling really good and so eager to meet this little babe!

Due Date: October 8th

How far along: 38 weeks!

Size of baby: 19.5 inches and 7 lb., current status is about the size of a ukulele!

How many days to go: 11

Total weight gain: 33 pounds

Have you started to show yet: The bump is in full force

Gender: We don’t know!

What I’m wearing: Loving my (non-maternity) Leith dresses (especially this one and this one) and maternity leggings now that the weather is cooling down. I’ve been really enjoying pairing leggings with these “long tshirts” (also non-maternity) from H&M as well.

Stretch marks: None. I use this lotion from time to time and if I take an evening shower, I will use this oil before bed. It also comes in lavender and smells so good!

Sleep: Not great, but not horrible. Waking up to try to get comfortable and then that usually results in a trip to the bathroom, but never more than once.

Best moment of this week: Jake installed the car seat and I organized the baby’s room with all of our great gifts from the baby shower.

Miss anything: My normal clothes (especially high-waisted jeans) and HIIT workouts

Movement:  Baby is constantly moving around – it’s funny to see how my belly shakes or tosses from side to side as baby is trying to get comfortable.

Food cravings: peanut butter, ice cream, danishes

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope! Give me all the food.

Labor signs: Been having some lower back pain since last week and pressure in my lower stomach area, especially on the commute home from work.

Belly button in or out: Definitely out

Wedding rings on or off: Off

Happy or moody most of the time: Been a mixture of both happy and sad this past week.

Looking forward to: Packing my hospital bag, getting a pedicure/manicure and finally enjoying some relaxing time in our remodeled basement

Did you know?: This week I learned as you get closer to labor, your hips begin to widen and will continue to be a bit wider post-delivery as well. Makes sense!

For all my fellow mama’s out there, I would love to know how far along you are and what you’re looking forward to most this week!

River was 2 weeks early, to our surprise, and I ended up happy about it because I had just started getting really nervous about labor and delivery. Luckily he was still technically full term and totally healthy. I’m so excited for you! Good luck in these last few weeks!
