Chase Michael // Newborn Photos

I can’t believe our little boy is 3 months old already! Looking at these newborn baby pictures makes me realize that so much has changed in such a short amount of time. While our boy, Chase, may not be a “newborn” anymore, it’s fun to see how his facial characteristics have matured. And yet, it makes me want to cry a little bit knowing he’s growing up right before my eyes. Oh, how I wish I could freeze time!

These newborn photos are so special to me. I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was a little nervous because Chase was such a wide-eyed baby since the moment he was born. Seriously, when my family came in to meet him just minutes after delivering, they turned the corner and there he was just looking straight at them! So when Sarah showed up at our house to take these pictures, there he was wide awake – even after eating a full meal! But that Sarah, she’s a baby whisperer because after I left for a moment to change my clothes, there he was fast asleep.

Chase also hated the cold! He would cry and lock his arms up in the air any time we changed his diaper/clothes. So yeah, I was nervous to get photos of him naked without crying! We ended up putting the space heater in his room to help keep the room nice and warm for him.. Which ultimately resulted in the rest of us sweating our butts off! 🙂 Hopefully you can’t tell in the photos.

Lastly, I remember the love and gratitude I felt. It was just 10 days after Chase was born and Jake and I were still getting used to the whole parenting/keeping-a-baby-alive thing. We kept saying, “I can’t believe he’s ours.” I’m so happy I have these photos to immediately take me back to that moment.

Sarah did such a great job capturing this time in our lives. I loved what she did for our maternity photos so I was really excited to invite her to the house to capture the special miracle she photographed just a few months earlier inside my belly. I am beyond thrilled with how both sessions turned out! No joke, by that evening she was already sending me sneak peaks and I couldn’t wait to see more! Sarah had such creative ideas and was so good at directing us on what to do – she even managed to get my husband comfortable in front of a camera! Now that doesn’t come easy. There’s just something about Sarah that makes you feel like your best friends just 5 minutes into the session. It’s amazing. SHE is amazing. Her photos are amazing. I’m so grateful to her that she captured one of the most special chapters in our lives so beautifully. I will cherish these photos forever.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Sarah. I wish I knew you when we were getting married! Whenever we renew our vows, you can count on me to give you a call. 🙂
